Biden tests negative for COVID-19 after aide tests positive

WASHINGTON: US President-elect Joe Biden gave negative results for COVID-19 on Thursday after a White House adviser, Cedric Richmond, contracted the deadly respiratory disease, a Biden spokeswoman said in a statement .

Richmond has not been in close contact with Biden, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control, said spokeswoman Kate Bedingfield.

On December 17, French President Emmanuel Macron gave positive results for Covid-19, according to the presidency. Now he will isolate himself for next week.

“The President of the Republic was diagnosed positively for COVID-19 today,” the Macron office said in a statement. “This diagnosis was made following a PCR test performed at the onset of the first symptoms.”
