Dostana 2 Movie
Dostana 2 is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film directed by Collin D’Cunha and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta under Dharma Productions. A quasi-sequel to the 2008 film Dostana also produced by Johar, the film stars Akshay Kumar, Janhvi Kapoor and Laksh Lalwani in leading roles. Marking Lalwani’s Hindi film debut, it has been written by Navjot Gulati, Sumit Arora, Rishabh Sharma and D’Cunha.

Dostana Production:
On June 27, 2019, the main cast was announced. This included Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and newcomer Laksh Lalwani. This is Lalwani’s first major film role. Filming commenced in Amritsar on 9 November 2019, but was stopped in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 lockdown in India. It was then scheduled to resume filming in April 2021. However, on 16 April 2021, Aaryan left the production due to creative differences, which postponed filming.
Dostana Release Date
The film was originally scheduled for cinema release in second half of 2020, but has been delayed indefinitely due to theatres shutdown and production delays owing to the due to the COVID-19 lockdown in India.
Dostana Controversy:
Kartik Aaryan was originally cast for one of the lead roles and had shot a significant portion of the movie prior to the lockdown. However, on 16 April 2021, Aaryan, who was supposed to collaborate with Dharma Productions for the first time, was fired from the film and blacklisted by the studio. Insider reports alleged that Aaryan kept delaying the remaining shoot of the film and behaved unprofessionally.
However, there were several reports that Aaryan instead was dissatisfied with the second half of the film’s script and had asked for rewrites, This allegedly brought Aaryan into conflict with producer Karan Johar, who didn’t understand Aaryan’s complaints since the latter had read the script before signing on and had appeared to have no qualms about the script then. Karan Johar stated he would never work with Aaryan in the future. Aaryan’s role is set to be recast and reshot.
