Drishyam 2: The Resumption, or simply Drishyam 2 is a 2021 Indian Malayalam-language crime drama film written and directed by Jeethu Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor through the Aashirvad Cinemas company. It is a sequel to his 2013 film Drishyam. The film stars Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil, who reprise their roles from the original. The story takes place six years after the events of Drishyam.

Drishyam 2 Movie Plot
The film begins with an eyewitness who accidentally passes the new police station and watches George Kutty leave the building, who is later caught by the police for murder. After 6 years, George Kutty and his family who live in the same place are affected by the events related to the Varun murder case and it is a talk between the villagers, which spreads various rumors and stories of police officers who re-investigate to discover the mortal remains of Varun.
Rani is concerned about these things and shares her thoughts with her new neighbor, Saritha, a married woman who is abused by her husband, even though she does not reveal the truth. Her daughter Anju is now an epileptic patient due to past events that haunt her in the form of nightmares and hallucinations. Anu is seen discussing ideas for a short film with her boyfriend at school related to the plot of the Varun case.
It is later revealed that Saritba is actually a spy for the police department under the command of the officer who is reinvestigating the case. Also, the police order Anu’s boyfriend to get clues from her. After 6 years, the eyewitness is released from jail and gives his statement to the police that he saw George Kutty leave the police station workplace that day. The police find skeletal remains from the police station and rethink the case to catch George Kutty and his family.

While questioning the family, Anju collapses from attacks and George Kutty confesses to the murder. After this, George Kutty is shown to have brilliantly planned the sequence of events that happen long before confessing and showing himself as the master planner who went out of his way to protect the family from him without any evidence to be caught by the law.
Principal photography lasted 46 days from September to November 2020, following established safety precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The film was shot extensively in and around Thodupuzha in the same locations as Drishyam, and some scenes in Kochi. Anil Johnson composed the songs and the score, while Satheesh Kurup did the cinematography.
Originally, the creators planned a theatrical release, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to release the film via the OTT Amazon Prime Video service, which premiered worldwide on February 18, 2021.
