Islamabad: The second phase of local body elections in PTI-controlled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province will be held on March 27, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja said on Thursday.

CEC Raja pointed out that the KP government had said that the first phase of local body elections would be held in December and the second phase in March before the holy month of Ramadan.
The Chief Secretary has directed that elections be held by the end of March.
The CEC said Ramadan is likely to start on April 3 or 4 and if polling is scheduled a month later, it will be too late. He then announced March 27 (Sunday) as the second phase voting date for the LB election.
After the hearing, Sardar Yusuf KP of the PML-N accused the government of being dishonest and deliberately holding elections in cold regions in the second phase.
“As in the first phase, the PTI will lose in the next phase,” he said, adding that the PML-N would win in the Hazara and Malakand divisions.
The PML-N leader said the party had supported the JUI-F as per the understanding reached in the opposition alliance.
