Max, Warner Bros.’ New Streaming Service, Announces Launch Date and Subscription Fees

Warner Bros. has unveiled their new platform, Max, which will merge the content from HBO Max and Discovery+. The platform will launch on May 23, 2023, with the tagline “the one to watch.” The spokesperson stated that Max will “set the standard across all genres of entertainment” and will offer a broad array of quality choices for everyone.

Max will have three price tiers: the ad-free version at $15.99 per month, an ad-lite plan at $9.99 per month, and the ultimate plan at $19.99 per month. The ad-free version offers HD quality, two concurrent streams, and 30 downloads. The ad-lite plan includes HD quality and two concurrent streams, while the ultimate plan includes 4K/HDR with Dolby Atmos, four concurrent streams, and up to 100 downloads.

Max will combine the weekly television events of HBO Max, such as Succession, The Last of Us, and The White Lotus, with the casual watches that Discovery+ offers, such as MILF Manor, Dr. Pimple Popper, and Cupcake Wars. The platform will also feature several new original shows, including The Penguin, a DC series, a second Game of Thrones prequel, a spin-off of The Big Bang Theory, and a fresh take on The Conjuring.

The new platform will replace HBO Max, but Discovery+ will remain a standalone streamer.
