PP-217 Final Results 2018:
PP 217 Multan 7
Muhammad Salman (Winner)
Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi
To everyone’s astonishment, Naeem defeated the PTI heavyweight candidate, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, by nearly 4,000 votes. Naim is said to have the support of businessman and PTI party leader Jahangir Tarin, whose insistence is to officially join PTI after the 2018 elections.
For by-elections, PML-N, who was ousted by the Election Commission to vote against his party, sent PML-N Naim, directing the PML-N in Punjab Chief Minister elections.
Against him is Shah Mahmud Qureshi’s son, Zain Qureshi, a PTI candidate.
Who can win?
Elections are very close to calling. There are strong candidates on both sides.
Naeem has the support of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), whose top leadership, like Abid Sher Ali, has been camping in the constituency for a while to campaign in his favour. He also enjoys the support of the Pakistan People’s Party and other People’s Democratic Movement parties.
For Zain Qureshi, his father was on the stump. Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Imran Khan is also expected to hold a big rally in the constituency on July 14.
There was very little electoral activity apart from a few side meetings. But this could rise as the election date approaches.
The main concern is the lack of clean drinking water and sanitation problems.
