Her real name was Ganga Harivandas and she came from a family of lawyers with very conservative beliefs. She was the only child of her parents and had completed her studies at a local government school. From her teens, she was bent on the bright world of acting. She wanted to pursue a career in Bollywood and without knowing much about the world of glamor, she left her family. Leaving her family uninformed of her, she took enough money and jewelry only to find herself embroiled in new trouble.
After she left her home, one of her father’s employees helped her to get to Mumbai. Upon reaching the city of her dreams, he realized that it was a different world from her imagination and her survival became a challenge for her. She fell in love with and married Ramnik Lal (the clerk) only to be abandoned by him. Making false promises, her husband sold her to a brothel and pushed her into the prostitution business at a young age. She was sold in Kamathipura for a mere amount of Rs. 500.
